SITE LAST UPDATED August 7th, 2010
(links are updated more frequentlly, so please come back soon.) Thanks for visiting my first attempt at creating a website (other than a free one!). I'm not too experienced at computing so feel free to send me any constructive comments you may have (you may use Guestbook). I was born near where I now live & I've just passed an important milestone in my life! I'm married to Jackie (Pitt) & we've celebrated our Ruby Wedding Anniversary; we have two sons, John & Mark. His wife is Lucy (Thompson) - they have a son, Luke, & a daughter, Sarah Eve. After loads of research, I traced my family tree back to the 1700s, mainly through investigations in Norwich Public Record Office, when I was more mobile & way back before the fire at the Central Library. My early education was at a primary class run by a Mr & Mrs Barron at their farm in Great Plumstead; then I attended Hillside Ave C.P.S. in Thorpe St Andrew & Norwich School. After 24 years with the TSB (latterly working in administration), I moved to Broadland District Council for 13 years until early retirement through ill health in September 1994. I was fortunate in that throughout all my working career I was occupied with my major interests of working with figures & statistics. For just over 20 years I was treasurer of the Norwich Branch of the British Diabetic Association (since June 2000, the name has been changed - to protect the innocent? - to the Norwich Group of Diabetes UK) & chairman for slightly less time. The terms ran concurrently, so my retirement presentation was inscribed "for 40 years' service" - I later became president until the branch sadly closed in 2010, after 52 years. My other former treasurerships included periods for Norwich Tape Recording Society from the formation. The group became Norwich Audio Society, then Norwich Hi Fi Club & I bacame a v9ce-president), UNISON in Broadland (formerly NALGO), Thorpe Men's Institute and Thorpe St Andrew P.C.C. (for 10yrs!). Nowadays, I find time for computing (I'm a "Silver Surfer"!), listening to the excellent output of BBC Radio Norfolk & writing verse. Sometimes I can do two at the same time - sometimes all three, but not too often! See my contacts on Facebook.

One of the chief things I have learned is to always try & put yourself in the other person's place: in other words, to consider both sides of every matter before making a decision (this is especially useful when composing letters - particularly emals!). This may come naturally to those whose star sign is Libra, although the pause for consideration may be mistaken for indecision.
A sincere thank you to those who have posted a message in my Guest Book - I have been pleased to contact several friends from my murky past!
